2nd Annual Vermont Covered Bridge Week, August 1–8, 2026, Announced by the Vermont Covered Bridge Society
JEFFERSONVILLE, VT (July 2026)—Building on the success of its inaugural year in 2025, the Vermont Covered Bridge Society (VCBS) announces the 2nd Annual Vermont Covered Bridge Week, taking place August 1–8, 2026. Proclaimed by Governor Phil Scott and observed statewide during the first week of August, the week brings renewed attention to the Society’s work to preserve Vermont’s historic covered bridges. This year, many communities have planned events centered around their covered bridges.
“It is my great hope that, within a few more years, the first week in August will be THE time to visit Vermont and see our amazing and historic covered bridges! We have so many! All worth seeing, all worth saving. This year sees the addition of guided tours in a “right-sized” van, which we hope to continue every year during Covered Bridge Week in Vermont!” said VCBS President Beth Brown-Limmer.

Saturday, August 1 – Guided Covered Bridge Tour | Randolph & Tunbridge (Orange County) Small-group (14) tours to nine historic covered bridges, leaving MyPlace Hotel in Randolph Center at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Tickets $45 each, available at the online store at vermontbridges.org or text 802 222 1573.
Sunday, August 2 – Flotilla & Boat Parade | Lunenburg (Essex County) Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. at Rogers Ranger Bridge on Rt. 2 in Lancaster, NH; the boat parade launches at 2:00 p.m. Theme: Everything red, white, and blues. Prizes!
Monday, August 3 – Maple Monday | 3:00–6:00 p.m. Maple Monday returns for a second year! Buy maple products at a historic covered bridge at one of three locations: Martin/Orton Farm Covered Bridge, Rt. 2, Marshfield (Washington County); Gorham Covered Bridge, Pittsford (Rutland County); and Mount Orne Covered Bridge, Lunenburg (Essex County). VCBS merchandise also available.
Tuesday, August 4 – Covered Bridge Day | Brattleboro (Windham County) Creamery Covered Bridge and Memorial Park, 500 Western Avenue, 4:00–8:00 p.m. Music, geocaching, food, film, and dedication of cobblestones at 5 p.m.
Wednesday, August 5 – Covered Bridge Presentation | Charlotte (Chittenden County) “In the Beginning…! The Genesis, Evolution, and Influence of Vermont’s Historic Covered Bridge Preservation Plan,” 1:00–3:00 p.m., Charlotte Public Library, 115 Ferry Road. A presentation by Robert McCullough, UVM Professor of Historic Preservation Emeritus, and JB McCarthy, VTrans engineer. Climate-controlled and ADA-accessible; refreshments served.
Wednesday, August 5 – Paint ‘n Sip | Lunenburg (Essex County) Mount Orne Covered Bridge, 5:00–7:00 p.m. (meet on NH side in parking area) Bring a canvas, slate, or other item to paint; paints, brushes, and supplies provided. Free.
Friday, August 7 – Arlington Village Farmers’ Market | Arlington (Bennington County) 3854 Route 7A, 4:00–7:00 p.m. VCBS members will staff a booth with information, membership, and merchandise.
Saturday, August 8 – Old Home Day | Belvidere (Lamoille County) Belvidere Community Club, 4351 VT Route 109. Parade begins at 10:00 a.m.; VCBS Events Chair Gary Briggs speaks at 11:30 a.m. VCBS will join other vendors.
Saturday, August 8 – Farmers’ Market | Montgomery (Franklin County) Pratt Hall, 2044 North Main Street, 9:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Includes a Montgomery Historical Society presentation at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, August 8 – Guided Covered Bridge Tour | Rockingham (Windham County) Small-group (14) guided tours to four historic covered bridges at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., leaving the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham. $30 per seat. Reservations required; text 802-222-1573.
