Vermont Covered Bridge Society Celebrates Milestone Spring Business Meeting

VERMONT (June, 2026)—The Vermont Covered Bridge Society (VCBS) is proud to announce the resounding success of its 2026 Spring Business Meeting, held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in Lunenburg, with 40 members attending, making it a vibrant and productive day for the organization.

The Spring Business Meeting was filled with noteworthy milestones and memorable moments, including:

  • Reports from the nine standing committees, with many chairpersons there to respond to questions, and two revisions to VCBS bylaws were approved.
  • A Silent Auction raising $700 for the Society, with the top lot, a stay at the renowned Woodstock Inn, fetching $225.
  • The premiere of the VCBS Summer Raffle, offering two lucky winners either a vintage covered bridge hooked rug or an original oil-on-board painting of a covered bridge by New Orleans artist Elaine Gleason. Raffle tickets are $5 each, with sales continuing through the drawing at the VCBS Fall Meeting on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Tunbridge, Vermont.
  • An enthusiastic and informative presentation by author Marvin Bubie, who shared over 200 town and city logos from across the country that feature covered bridge imagery—a testament to the enduring cultural significance of these structures.
  • A guided bus tour of four historic covered bridges: Mt. Orne Bridge (Lunenburg, VT), Mechanic Street Bridge (Lancaster, NH), Groveton Covered Bridge (Northumberland/Groveton, NH), and the charming Stark Covered Bridge (Stark, NH), which features a rare pedestrian walkway on both sides.
  • A complimentary lunch for attendees—the first year in recent memory lunch was provided free of charge—giving those the opportunity to connect and celebrate around communal tables.

The VCBS extends its sincere gratitude to NEK Broadband for their generous sponsorship of this year’s Spring Business Meeting. NEK Broadband’s support reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Vermont’s communities and the organizations that make events like these possible. The VCBS also extends thanks to Lunenburg’s Top of the Common organization and the Lunenburg Elementary School, who both waived fees for use of their facilities; The Green Mountain Inn, Von Trapp Family Lodge and Woodstock Inn who each donated overnight stays for the silent auction; as well as Jay Peak Resort who donated family passes.

“It was too fabulous a meeting to not shout it out to the media”, said Beth Brown-Limmer, President of the Vermont Covered Bridge Society. “The energy and good cheer of VCBS members created a memorable day for covered bridge enthusiasts from near and far.”

Looking ahead, the VCBS is building momentum toward the 2nd Annual Vermont Covered Bridge Week (August 1–8, 2026) and the Fall Meeting on Saturday, October 10, 2026 in Tunbridge. Members and media are encouraged to follow the Society’s website and Facebook page for upcoming news, including a summer raffle, a 250th Anniversary Flag project, and more.
